In 1986 I qualified as a physiotherapist from Lanchester Polytechnic. During my 18 years within the NHS, I developed a particular interest in back pain and worked for a consultant led back pain clinic.
I have always felt that the patients who are most successful in overcoming their problems are those who are willing to take responsibility for their posture and undertake appropriate exercises. Teaching pilates fits perfectly with this view. Since leaving the NHS I have worked locally as a self-employed physiotherapist, pilates Instructor, and Thai Yoga masseuse.

Being an active runner and cyclist myself, my interest in sports specific pilates has developed. During discussions with other cyclists, the common problems of neck pain, tight hamstrings, and sore backs were often raised. All of which I know can be managed by appropriate pilates exercises, hence
Pilates For Cyclists was born.
